Salma Hayek Proves Age is Just a Number on Sports Illustrated’s 2025 Cover
We often hear the phrase “Age is just a number.” Well, Hollywood superstar Salma Hayek Pinault is the very definition of that phrase. The 58-year-old Mexican-American actress continues to mesmerize fans worldwide as she graced the cover of the 2025 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, which is set to hit newsstands on May 17.Traditionally, the magazine’s covers have featured young, often stereotypically “modelesque” women. This year, however, the narrative has shifted in a powerful way.
Dressed in a striking green swimsuit by Colombian designer Johanna Ortiz and adorned with jewelry by Los Angeles-based Jacquie Aiche, Salma Hayek is the embodiment of confidence and elegance. Her cover shoot, set in her native Mexico, captures not just her beauty but also her sense of freedom and joy.In an interview, The House of Gucci star shared her surprise and delight at being chosen for the cover. She admitted that, growing up, she never imagined someone with her background and body type would be featured. She said,
It never crossed my mind that I could be on that cover. Because (the women) didn’t look like me. My body isn’t necessarily the model type. I never thought that was a possibility — and for it to happen when I’m 58! It’s really shocking. She spoke candidly about experiencing “imposter syndrome,” a feeling of self-doubt that often accompanies moments of achievement. However, she embraced the opportunity, describing the photo shoot as “magical.” She recalled, “My generation, especially Mexican women, we thought we were going to be dismissed at 35. I got so excited and I felt really free. I put Bad Bunny on and started dancing — I loved it.”
