Jennifer Lawrence Reveals Sleeping Pill Mix-Ups on Film Sets
Jennifer Lawrence recently opened up about her struggles with sleeping pills during a conversation with her “Don’t Look Up” co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio, for Variety and CNN’s “Actors on Actors” series. The issues arose while she was filming major projects, particularly “Red Sparrow” and “Hunger Games: Catching Fire.”
In her anecdote about “Red Sparrow,” Lawrence revealed that she accidentally took Adderall instead of a sleeping pill, resulting in a sleepless night that left her anxious on set. “I was taking hot showers in a panic,” she admitted. “I am not somebody who can function without sleep.” The stakes were high, as she had to perform a challenging line—”Senate Armed Services Committee”—in a Russian accent, which only added to her stress.
Lawrence recounted a second incident while filming “Hunger Games: Catching Fire.” She mistakenly took Ambien in the morning, leading to a surreal experience during a dance scene with Philip Seymour Hoffman. “I was hallucinating,” she explained, adding that the mix-up severely impacted her ability to remember her lines. This led to frustration from her co-star Elizabeth Banks, who was left exasperated as Lawrence repeatedly asked for clarification on the scene.
DiCaprio reacted to her stories with surprise, acknowledging the significance of such mix-ups in high-pressure environments. The discussion brought to light the intense nature of the film industry and its demands on actors, particularly regarding their mental and physical well-being.
